The Miami Marlins have acquired Fernando Rodney in a trade with the San Diego Padres.

Miami sent right-handed pitcher Chris Paddack to San Diego in the swap.

Rodney, 39, has an 0.31 ERA and 17 saves in 28 appearances with the Padres this season. He has 253 career saves.

At 41-37, the Marlins currently hold the National League's second Wild Card spot.

The Pirates have placed catcher Francisco Cervelli on the 15-day disabled list with a broken left hand that is expected to sideline him four to six weeks.

The Pirates also acquired backup catcher Erik Kratz from the Los Angeles Angels on Saturday for $20,000, payable by June 30.

The Chicago Cubs have acquired Chris Coghlan from the Oakland Athletics for Minor League infielder/outfielder Arismendy Alcantara.

Chicago traded Coghlan to Oakland just months ago.

Coghlan, 30, was hitting .146 for the Athletics this year but put up good numbers for the Cubs after joining the team as a spring invitee before the 2014 season.

Alcantara, 24, is batting .264 with five home runs for Triple-A Iowa after appearing in 81 big league games over the past two seasons.

The New York Mets have acquired Kelly Johnson from the Atlanta Braves for the second straight year.

Johnson was acquired for Minor League right-hander Akeel Morris and cash considerations.

He becomes the second player in Major League history to be traded from one team to another in consecutive seasons. Chad Kreuter was traded from the White Sox to the Angels in 1997 and again in 1998.

The White Sox have traded for starting pitcher James Shields, sending starter Erik Johnson and minor league shortstop Fernando Tatis Jr. to the Padres.

The Milwaukee Brewers have traded Jed Bradley to the Atlanta Braves for a player to be named later or cash.

Bradley, who turns 26 on June 12 and has been pitching primarily in relief over the past two years, owns a 4.78 ERA in five Minor League seasons. He was a first-round pick in 2011.

The Atlanta Braves have traded Jason Grilli to the Toronto Blue Jays in exchange for right-hander Sean Ratcliffe.

Multiple outlets have reported that the Blue Jays will also pay Grilli the pro-rated portion of the league minimum for the remainder of the season. The Braves will be responsible for the remainder of his salary.

The reliever has a base salary of $3.5 million for 2016.
